FINANCE, TRUST ADMINISTRATION AND OWNER REGISTRY SERVICES

Founded in 2013, He Akina is a shared services organisation established to support Ngāti Tūwharetoa entities with a wide range of business services, focusing on finance, trust administration and owner registry services.

The name ‘He Akina’ originates from Tūwharetoa’s haka Tuwhare, where ‘Aki’ means to support one another. This represents the foundation for which He Akina Limited is built upon.

  • Costs: We operate on a cost share basis, and through the sharing resources we are able to provide a cost-effective service.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

The finance team is led by the General Manager, providing our trusts with sound advice and quality assurance. Our finance professionals work alongside trustees and trust employees to ensure funds are managed correctly, IRD returns are filled and the processing activity is up-to-date.

Finance and accounting services include:
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Cash flow management
- IRD compliance
- Payroll and PAYE
- Financial reporting
- Contract and lease management

trust administration AND owner services

The He Akina administration team provide a wide range of services including meeting coordination, event planning, and minute-taking. Our highly skilled team work closely with trustees to ensure schedules are up-to-date, business documentation is managed efficiently and board packs are released within the required time-frames.  

Owner services include shareholder database management, registrations and distributions. This area of our business works alongside trustees and shareholders to manage shareholder details, provide owner support, and to process & pay grants and distributions.

Trust administration services include:
- Board / AGM meeting administration and coordination
- Event planning and management
- Trust policies and procedures
- General secretarial services
- Records storage

Owner services include:
- Shareholder queries and maintenance
- Grants and dividends
- Māori Land Court applications
